Course content

Develop the knowledge, skills and understanding of business, operations and strategy to prepare you for a career in engineering and technology management.

Our course builds your skills in leadership and management and teaches you how to apply them in an engineering context to deliver sustainable products, technologies and services. You'll explore the impact of new technologies and how they relate to management in the engineering sector. Your studies will include business analysis, product development and supply chain management.

Throughout the course, you'll develop a strong foundation in management essentials such as finance, operations, project management and strategy. You'll have the option to use this knowledge in a consultancy project where you'll work in teams on a real engineering or technology management challenge with an industrial partner. This practical focus will help you develop key skills and the professional confidence to take into the workplace.

You may also want to look at our related course, MSc in Innovation and Technology Management.

Learn from experts in the field

Our course is delivered by the Faculty of Engineering & Design and School of Management. This collaborative approach bridges the gap between the two disciplines. You’ll learn from academics and industry professionals with expertise in engineering, innovation, sustainability, management and business. You'll also benefit from our links to business through guest lectures, site visits and opportunities to work with partner companies on real projects.

Your future starts here

You'll graduate with the skills needed to take a lead role in global engineering companies, manufacturers and suppliers, technology consultancies and organisations needing engineering business management skills. Our graduates have gone on to work at companies including IBM, Hitachi, Jaguar Land Rover, Accenture and Vodaphone. Some of our graduates also choose to further their studies on our PhD programme or with other leading institutions.
