All potential participants should meet UCLan minimum qualification for entry to taught doctorate of good honours degree or equivalent and be an experienced educational practitioner with a minimum of 2 years experience at commencement of Stage 1. There are several entry points onto the EdD.
Months of entry
5-7 years part time using study days and supervised research. Stage 1 can be completed part-time in 2-3 years depending on prior experience; Stage 2 is completed in 3 years. There is an optional additional write up year.
The course is about researching and developing educational practice therefore your work environment will form a key learning resource. Study days and contact will involve you with a 'community of professional practitioners and researchers', through which you will engage in peer critique, collaborative learning and dissemination, and reflection. You will be encouraged to take an active part in the community of practice around the doctorate, face-to-face, via E-learn, in seminars and research events. Teaching and learning methods will include case analyses, workshops, visiting speakers, directed and independent reading, work based learning, learning sets, practice focused assignments, research supervision.
