Course content

Be part of a digital health-ready workforce as the global market expands to reach a predicted £408 billion by 2025. Our MSc Digital Health will equip you to work in the digitally-literate healthcare organisations of the 21st century.

This programme is only available as an online distance learning course, which provides high quality learning and teaching combined with flexible study.

It’s becoming increasingly important for doctors and healthcare professionals to be able to exploit digital opportunities in healthcare - improving patient outcomes, delivering safe care more efficiently and effectively, and bridging the gap between health and social care teams.

We’ll equip you with the knowledge and skills you’ll need to capitalise on digital health technologies to deliver community healthcare, particularly to disadvantaged, remote and rural patients, in a way that minimises risk while maximising access.

This course is delivered through distance learning, so you'll engage in a range of lectures, discussions and tutorials within an online environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • You’ll be joining the course at a time of fast-paced change in the NHS and digital healthcare developments. You’ll learn from a course team with a wealth of experience, knowledge, networks and, above all, passion.
  • You’ll develop a range of clinical and non-clinical skills and have the opportunity to reflect on how these can be used in your practice.
  • The MSc Digital Health programme is not just about skills development. It includes academic development, so you can ensure that your clinical practice is research-informed.

LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT

The MSc Digital Health is a remotely delivered modular programme, allowing for a fully distance-based package of learning.

Teaching and learning methods will vary depending on your chosen pathway through the course, but typically include lectures, live and recorded seminars, chat boards, workshops, action-learning sets and use of Blackboard (virtual learning) resources. You’ll have support from online tutors through both webinars and one-to-one online sessions.

You’ll engage in work-based learning activities, including projects which are relevant to your own area of practice and will support your professional development.

Assessment takes place online, and we’ll provide you with rapid feedback and opportunities to reflect on your progress. Throughout the course you may be asked to complete reflective coursework, e-portfolios, presentations or viva, written summaries and case studies.
