Course content

If you have the desire to provide top-quality physical education, then we will help you explore the potential of PE as an educational medium. Our highly-rated PGCE course will give you the knowledge and skills to be an effective teacher, developing independent learning techniques and self-motivation that will be valuable throughout your career. You will look at the learning potential of a range of aesthetic, artistic, body management and body conditioning activities, helping you plan effective PE lessons for schools.

Over half the course will be spent working with children on assessed placement, with school-based enrichment activities alongside your university-based study. You'll take three placements across a variety of schools and settings, building a wealth of experience to help advance your future career.

You’ll learn through theory and plenty of first-hand experience how to work within the National Curriculum framework, the concepts and inhibitions of PE, and confidently devise and deliver interesting lessons to engage young minds across a broad spectrum of subjects in primary school.

And, because our course has QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) built-in, you can apply for a position as a primary school teacher the minute you graduate.
