Entry requirements

  • Normally a first degree, or its equivalent with a minimum of 2:2 honours.If you don't have an undergraduate degree but do have a Masters or other higher qualification, your application will be considered by our academic tutors on a one-to-one basis.
  • Three GCSEs at minimum grade C or above to include English language, mathematics and science (including biology, chemistry or physics).
  • A satisfactory academic (university) reference AND a satisfactory professional reference if more than three years since academic study
  • The ability to discriminate key ideas and express arguments
  • All candidates must demonstrate professional suitability through interview and must obtain medical and enhanced DBS clearance according to established university procedures

Would you love to ignite the enthusiasm and inspire young children from the minute they step foot into the nursery or classroom and embark on their educational life? You can as a Key Stage 1 teacher you will teach children aged 3-7.

We’ve designed our highly-rated PGCE Lower Primary with QTS to support your journey all the way from being a student through to achieving status as a newly-qualified teacher.

You will learn all the knowledge required to teach of PGCE General Primary but with a specialist pathway in lower primary, so that you can hone your pedagogy in this area to become an expert member of staff in school, skilled at developing effective teaching and learning in this age group.

You’ll learn through theory and plenty of first-hand experience how to work within the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum and Early Years Foundation Stage framework and confidently devise and deliver interesting lessons to engage young minds across a broad spectrum of subjects in primary school.

And, because our course has QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) built-in, you can apply for a position as a primary school teacher the minute you graduate.
