Why choose Environmental Change and Global Sustainability?

Global socio-ecological challenges—such as climate change and biodiversity loss—demand multidisciplinary solutions that go beyond traditional boundaries of science and policy.

The Master’s Programme in Environmental Change and Global Sustainability (ECGS) equips you with strong interdisciplinary thinking skills and prepares you to:

  • Analyse environmental and sustainability issues within your field of expertise
  • Address complex socio-ecological challenges in collaboration with diverse stakeholders

The programme offers three degree options—Master of Social Sciences, Master of Science, or Master of Science (Agriculture and Forestry). Your degree is determined by the disciplinary study track you choose when applying.

By the time you graduate, you will have developed broad expertise across environmental science, sustainability studies, agricultural and forest sciences, and environmental policy. This prepares you for specialist roles in the public, private, and third sectors, as well as for doctoral studies and careers in environmental and sustainability research
