Course content
The MSc Neuroscience and Mental Health explores the relationship between brain function, cognition and mental health. The programme provides advanced knowledge of the neural mechanisms underlying behaviour, cognitive processes and mental health conditions, while developing practical research and analytical skills.
Students study the structure and function of the brain, the biological and cognitive basis of mental health disorders, and the techniques used to investigate brain activity. The course introduces a range of neuroscience methods, including neuroimaging, brain stimulation and electrophysiological techniques.
The programme emphasises research skills and scientific analysis. Students develop expertise in research design, statistical analysis, and the interpretation of neuroscientific data, alongside the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
Through taught modules and an independent research project, students gain the technical knowledge and critical thinking skills required for careers in neuroscience research, mental health, healthcare and related scientific fields.
