Entry requirements

Applicants should normally hold a second-class honours degree (2:2 or above) in a relevant subject, such as neuroscience, psychology, biomedical sciences, biology, medicine, pharmacy or a related life or health science discipline.

Applications from candidates with professional qualifications or relevant work experience in healthcare or a related field will also be considered on an individual basis.

International applicants must meet the University’s English language requirements. Where English is not the first language, an IELTS score of 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component) or equivalent is required.

Course content

The MSc Clinical Neuroscience is a one-year full-time or two-year part-time postgraduate degree designed to provide advanced knowledge of brain function in health and disease. The programme explores the biological, psychological and clinical foundations of neurological and neuropsychiatric conditions, alongside contemporary approaches to diagnosis, treatment and research.

Students develop a strong grounding in core areas including clinical neuroimmunology, biopsychology, lifestyle medicine and research methods. The course integrates theoretical understanding with practical application, offering opportunities to engage with clinical assessments, data analysis and independent research.

The programme culminates in a substantial research project, enabling students to apply advanced scientific reasoning and analytical skills to a focused area of clinical neuroscience. Graduates are prepared for careers in healthcare, pharmaceutical and commercial research, academic study, medical writing, and doctoral-level research.
