Course content
This course examines how we use culture as a force for human, social and economic progress. The Centre for Cultural and Media Policy Studies at the University of Warwick has expertly designed this programme to focus on critical thinking, idea generation and problem-solving while enhancing your professional skills and competencies.
This MA programme will give you the opportunity to explore how the arts and culture can be used to address local, national, and global development challenges. It examines the impact of arts and culture in various contexts across the Global North and Global South, with particular attention paid to initiatives with local communities, the development of cultural districts, innovations in urban environments and cutting-edge approaches to creative enterprise. The course is taught in close dialogue with prevailing Development discourses, specifically the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
You will investigate the strategy models and creative potential in using arts and culture within development contexts, and explore how they can be used to further social and environmental justice as well as contribute to economic growth.
