Course content

This part-time course is for qualified health and social care professionals who have already studied to degree level and wish to expand their sphere of practice to include new elements within their professional role. They must also be engaged in practice for normally a minimum of 20 hours per week. It is designed to develop the knowledge and understanding of health and social care professionals working to, or aspiring to be, advanced practitioners.

This flexible course will allow you to develop your knowledge base from the perspective of your own work, whilst sharing and learning from your colleagues across the interprofessional team. You can choose from over 60 units to undertake a degree that is tailored to your professional development. You will study units of your choice in manageable chunks and work steadily towards a Master’s degree. There are various entry and exit points, which are explained in our course diagram (pdf, 41kb).

It presents an opportunity for you to show your ability to critically evaluate your practice and make evidence-based judgements. You’ll be able to further integrate new and existing skills in a practice setting while maintaining and developing high-quality healthcare in your current workplace.
