Entry requirements

Suitable for graduates in Chemistry or a related discipline, e.g. Chemical engineering, Pharmacy, Pharmacology and Biochemistry, with a 1st or 2nd class UK Honours degree or equivalent. Entry to courses in chemistry will be subject to the University requirements for English language.

Course content

The programme will develop discipline specific technical knowledge, understanding and laboratory skills in Medicinal Chemistry as well as placing Medicinal Chemistry within the broader context of drug discovery and its relationships with stakeholders including patients, investors, and governments. Course content is aimed at developing chemistry skills in the context of drug design, for example through lectures and interactive sessions with industry experts, molecular modelling and an extended multidisciplinary project. Interpersonal relations will be developed through group working and an extended project within a School of Chemistry research group. Possibilities of placement abroad are also offered in academic institutions in Europe.
