Course content
This programme is aimed at design professionals who wish to advance their discipline through the act of practice and within the workplace. Its aim is to encourage and enable those who are at the forefront of creative practice to undertake research through design focusing on specialisms developed through practice and to fill the current void of doctoral-level practitioners in the discipline.
Research training is offered at bi-annual design symposia within the School. The final assessment is via a portfolio of design work of original composition presented as an exhibition with an accompanying written commentary of 40,000-50,000 words prepared for the viva voce examination.
The distinctiveness of our Welsh School of Architecture lies in our tradition of combining creativity with a focus on making, our research portfolio, calibre of staff and unique location.
