Course content

The Newcastle University Master of Business Administration (MBA) offers the opportunity to put management theory into practice and develop professional skills. It is designed for individuals taking a career break to focus on building managerial knowledge and skills. It is an immersive experience, enabling you to focus on developing the capabilities to achieve your career objectives
This course is aimed at individuals who wish to:
• move from technical/functional roles into management
• make an industry or functional change
• explore entrepreneurial opportunities
It provides a foundation in the core business disciplines with an emphasis on putting management theory into practice. Through elective modules and a range of projects, you will have the opportunity to tailor the course to suit your personal or organisational interests.

Management consultancy
At various key points in the course, you will be involved in real-time action learning in which you will have the opportunity to work on operational and strategic issues and provide insight and expertise to participating clients.
You will get the opportunity to apply your problem-solving and consulting skills on a live project with a real organisation. Small teams of students will be briefed by the organisation and will deliver a solution to an issue that the organisation is experiencing. Previous clients include:

Major project or dissertation
During the final term, you will embark on a significant individual project which will be delivered as a written report. You will choose from a range of project options to ensure that you can apply your learning to great effect.
Personal and professional transformation
Complementing the academic elements of the course, the personal and professional transformation module will draw the focus on you, by developing your interpersonal and professional skills.

Information for international students

To study this course you need to meet our Band 6 English Language requirements: Direct Entry: IELTS 6.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.0 in all sub-skills). If you have lower English Language scores, you may be accepted onto a Pre-sessional English Language course.
