A UK honours degree: MSc/MSc(Res) - minimum 2.2; MRes - minimum 2.1, or equivalent in a biological subject. Applicants with appropriate employment experience or qualifications will also be considered.

MSc Molecular Microbiology provides students with opportunities to study advanced principles of the metabolism and genetics of microbes involved in clinical health and the natural environment and infectious diseases.
Practical work forms a large proportion of learning to ensure that students have extensive skills for employment or research and there is an emphasis on developing knowledge and understanding such that students acquire the skills, qualities and attributes expected by employers or for postgraduate research.
MSc by Research Molecular Microbiology is aimed at students wishing to be fully prepared for research work on graduation, but who have limited practical laboratory experience.
Through studying 60 credit points of taught modules directly related to acquisition of research skills and a 60 CP research project you will emerge as a well-trained researcher with good prospects for further study to PhD or to direct work in industry. You will be working with experts in individual disciplines and will have the opportunity to study a variety of aspects of your discipline of choice.
Students studying on the MSc and MSc (Res) have the opportunity to take a work placement, enhancing your CV and employability even further.
An MRes Molecular Microbology is an independent research based course, supervised by one of our experienced academics. The course will help you gain extensive knowledge in a particular subject area as well as develop vital research skills.
