Entry requirements

A UK honours degree (MSc - minimum 2.2; MRes - minimum 2.1) or equivalent in a biological subject. Applicants with appropriate employment experience or qualifications will also be considered.

Course content

MSc Molecular Microbiology provides students with opportunities to study advanced principles of the metabolism and genetics of microbes involved in clinical health and the natural environment and infectious diseases.

Practical work forms a large proportion of learning to ensure that students have extensive skills for employment or research and there is an emphasis on developing knowledge and understanding such that students acquire the skills, qualities and attributes expected by employers or for postgraduate research.

Students studying on the MSc have the opportunity to take a work placement, enhancing your CV and employability even further.

An MRes Molecular Microbology is an independent research based course, supervised by one of our experienced academics. The course will help you gain extensive knowledge in a particular subject area as well as develop vital research skills.

Information for international students

International students need IELTS 6.5 (with minimum of 5.5 in reading, listening, speaking and writing).
