Course content

This MSc Cyber Security Technology (Conversion) is designed for graduates from non-computing backgrounds who want to transition into cyber security. It provides a structured pathway to build technical knowledge, professional capability and confidence from the ground up.

You will develop core understanding in computing, networking and cyber security, progressing from foundational concepts to applied practice. The curriculum covers areas such as security fundamentals, systems and network security, software and platform security, human and organisational factors, and cyber risk management.

Teaching is practice focused, using laboratories, workshops and problem-based activities based on real-world cyber security scenarios. The course also develops analytical thinking, communication, teamwork and ethical awareness alongside technical skills.

Assessment is coursework based, including portfolios, technical reports, practical tasks and projects, with some time-constrained assessments. The programme supports progression into operational cyber security and governance, risk and compliance environments.
