Course content

This MSc Data Science Applications (Conversion) provides a route into data science for graduates from non-computing or non-STEM backgrounds. It is designed to build technical knowledge, confidence and professional capability from the ground up.

You will develop core skills in programming, data handling, mathematics and statistics, before progressing to areas such as machine learning, data analysis and visualisation. The course focuses on how data can be used to inform decision making and solve real-world problems across different sectors.

Teaching is practice based, using laboratories, workshops and problem-based tasks that reflect professional environments. You will also develop analytical thinking, communication and teamwork skills alongside technical knowledge.

Assessment is coursework based, including portfolios, technical reports, practical tasks and individual or group projects, with some time-constrained assessments.
